Phillis & Bill Dance Again

Phillis & Bill Dance Again

Welcome to Geniewish, making dreams come true.

The Wish

Geniewish received a letter from a Care Worker in a local North East Residential Care Home regarding a residents wish. Phillis simply wanted to dance with her husband Bill again!! After being married for over 65 years and never spending a night apart, until Phillis’s recent ill health and admission into a Care Home. They travelled the country in their youth attending Ballroom Tea Dances in Brighton, Bournemouth and Blackpool to name but a few.

The Plan

Phillis wasn’t well enough to travel to a venue so we brought the Tea Dance to her. With the Geniewish team setting up the Care Home lounge as the Ballroom we organised a local pianist, playing Phillis’s old favourites of the Waltz and Tango. We then sent out invitations to residents and their families inviting them along to Phillis’s Tea Dance.

Fulfilling The Wish

Excitement filled the Care Home that day as all the residents and staff dressed in their best dresses and sparkle for the occasion, although many of the residents couldn’t hit the dance floor there was lots of foot tapping, singing, clapping and fun had by all. Then with a little help from staff and an aid Phillis danced with her Billy again!!.There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as everyone cheered and clapped as Phyllis and Billy swayed from side to side, maybe now quite how they used to but the magic was still there.

A massive thank you to the Genie Wish team and the staff at the Care Home, who worked endlessly to fulfil Phillis’s wish of dancing with her beloved husband again, without them that special day would never have happened.

If you know someone in need of a wish, get in touch with Geniewish, no wish is to big or small, our team are here to make dreams come true.
